Bonding With Al Quran

Saying goodbye to Ramadan is never an easy feat. It is a bittersweet ending to hopefully sweeter beginnings as we reset ourselves after a month of endless ibadah to Allah SWT.

While most fuss about what they had not done enough or what they wished they could have done more, the most crucial aspect in our lives regardless of what month we may be in is to maintain a close connection to our Rabb.

After all the detoxification and cleansing, as believers, our souls must continuously be nourished by the words of our Creator. Allah wants us to rely on Him. The Quran is Allah’s greatest gift for us. The more we recite His verses, we are mindful that the One who nurtures us will shower us with His blessings and guidance.

“The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord, they rely.” (Surah Al-Anfal, Verse Two)

Quran is the easiest way to obtain rewards

If we are afraid of our good deeds depleting quickly after the holy month, the Quran is the easiest way to obtain rewards. Remember that the Prophet SAW stated every letter recited in Allah’s Book will be credited with a good deed which gets a ten-fold reward.

“I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter.” (At-Tirmidhi)

Furthermore, reading the Quran should be a continuous journey for every believer. One must never stop devoting themselves to studying and understanding Allah’s words. It does not matter how fluent they are or how much they are able to read; what matters is an effort is made, and time, as well as full attention, is given to His Divine Book.

Aisha RA reported the Prophet SAW said, “The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Quran will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Quran and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two rewards.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

To endlessly reap the Quran’s limitless rewards, one should never create a barrier to building their relationship with His Divine Book. Even though some verses may seem hard to comprehend at times, we must strive to understand and reflect upon each message with an open mind. Allah will speak to us in subtle or direct ways if we sincerely let our emotions flow along with His beautiful words.

While profound in meaning, the Quran’s message transcends beyond time and remains relevant. Every believer should be in awareness that each word sent from Allah is purposeful and intentional, therefore, we should allow ourselves to be touched by it. In completely trusting the holy texts in the Quran, we will also be able to unearth something useful to apply to our daily lives, no matter what we go through.

Quran it is a declaration of His love

Finally, the Quran is not simply a book filled with commandments from Allah, but rather, it is a declaration of His love, mercy, and compassion towards His creation. Thus, reciting it is a way for us to honour Him. The more we read it, the more we are able to extract its maximum sweetness as well as experience the tremendous delight it brings about in our days.

In saying this, it is time for us to start opening up our hearts and minds, increase our faith by reciting Allah’s perfect words, and start living our lives like the Quran.

As Aisha RA relayed, “The Prophet’s character was the Quran”.

Hence, we too must aspire to emulate Allah’s beloved Messenger by devoting ourselves to the Quran to attain nearness to Him in this life and the next.
